Mark Reynolds homered and had 2 RBI as the Vernon Hillbillies topped the
ice-cold Chainsaw Proctologists by a score of 7 to 6 at the ballpark.
In the 6th inning Vernon went on top for good scoring a single run. Gerardo
Parra cracked a solo homerun. Jhonny Peralta got his chance to keep things
going, but he went down on strikes. Chainsaw threatened in the 9th but
Vernon was able to put down the rally.
James Shields(5-4) was the winner allowing 6 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings.
Shields got help from George Sherrill who earned his 5th save. Jon
Rauch(0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief. He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings
and surrendered 3 hits and no walks.
'I was a little good, a little bad and a little ugly.' said Shields, 'I was
just giving us a chance to win.'
